Problems our website maintenance services solve

These six problems come to our WordPress support services again and again. We have solved each of them more than once, quickly and well.

Spam floods the contact form

Bots bury real inquiries in junk. We set up anti-spam protection, like reCAPTCHA or a hidden field only bots fill in, and check that real messages arrive.

Something broke after a plugin update

The new version clashes with another plugin or the theme, and a page or the checkout stops working. We roll the site back, find the conflict and fix it.

The site runs on an old PHP version

Old PHP versions no longer get security fixes, and new plugins drop them. We move the site to a current PHP version.

The site has been hacked

Malware, spam pages or redirects to strangers’ sites hurt your visitors and your search results. We clean the site up and harden it against the next attempt.

Security headers are missing

Without them, security scanners flag the site, and browsers get no rules for protecting your visitors. We set the headers up as part of hardening the site.

The site has become slow

Visitors leave a slow page before it opens. We find the cause in the server logs. On the sites we fixed, the cure was updating PHP, the plugins and the core.

Do you need WordPress website maintenance services?

If your site brings in inquiries or sales, yes. WordPress, its theme and every plugin keep changing. New versions fix bugs and close security holes, and a site that skips them falls further behind each month. Nothing looks wrong until something breaks.

Here is what we find when a site comes to us after years without WordPress maintenance:

  • outdated plugins and an old WordPress core with known vulnerabilities;
  • a site that is already infected or hacked, while the owner doesn’t know it;
  • no working backups, or backups nobody has ever tested;
  • plugins their authors abandoned, which now have to be replaced;
  • a slow site: plugins it no longer needs, images nobody optimized, an old PHP version;
  • years of piled-up updates that break the site when they are installed all at once.

These problems stay hidden until the day the site stops working. Our free audit looks for them first: the security, the speed and the updates, and the backups too once you give us access.

What good WordPress maintenance looks like

Before you compare plans and prices, it helps to know what makes maintenance work. In our experience it comes down to five things. Hold any provider to them, us included.

It runs every week

Updates and checks run on a schedule, every week. A week of changes is far easier to check than a year of them.

One manager knows your site

The same manager handles your site every time, and nobody relearns its plugins and history. Since the work is recorded, a colleague from the team can step in.

Every update is tested on a copy first

Updates reach a staging copy before the live site, so a conflict shows up where your visitors can’t see it.

Emergencies get a response in hours

When the site is down or hacked, work should start within hours. Ours starts within 1 hour in working hours and 4 hours at night and on weekends.

You see the work and the hours

A monthly report tells you what was done on your site and how many hours it took.

What our WordPress maintenance and support services include

Will an update break my site?

Not when we run it. Every week a person on our team updates the WordPress core, the plugins and the theme on a staging copy of your site, never straight on the live one. They check the site on the copy, and only then move the updates live.

Critical security fixes don’t wait for the weekly round. When a vulnerability is patched, we check the fix on the copy and install it as soon as it’s released.

If an update still breaks something, we roll the site back to its backup and fix the conflict, without touching your hours of edits. A person, not an auto-update plugin or a host script, decides whether an update is safe for your site, so you can stop putting updates off.

Every WordPress update is checked on a staging copy before it reaches the live site

Is my site protected and backed up?

Yes. Our WordPress maintenance and security services start with the setup: we put a firewall in front of the site, scan it for malware and protect the login.

Then we harden it: two-factor login, a custom login address, security headers and a locked-down XML-RPC, an old remote-access feature attackers use to guess passwords. A hack during maintenance is cleaned up within the plan, every time, with no extra bill.

The site is backed up every day, and we keep daily, weekly and monthly copies: on your hosting where your host allows it, otherwise through a plugin or an external copy, with the storage included.

Restores are free and unlimited.

Will my site stay fast and online?

We keep it fast, and uptime monitoring watches it around the clock. Sites slow down over time, for reasons our guide to speeding up a WordPress website walks through: the database fills with leftovers, the cache stops doing its job, new images go up at full size.

Within your plan, and not from your hours of edits, we clean the database, tune the cache and optimize the images, and the monthly report shows what we did.

We measure the result by Core Web Vitals, the speed metrics Google uses, and aim for a PageSpeed score of 90+ wherever the site allows it. Monitoring alerts our team the moment the site goes down.

Regular cleanup keeps a WordPress site fast, and monitoring watches it around the clock

What else every maintenance plan includes

Updates, backups, security and speed keep the site running. Every plan also covers the work that keeps it useful: edits, a monthly report, advice and accessibility checks.

Edits without a new project

Texts, images, banners, plugin settings and CSS: send the task, and it comes out of your plan’s 5, 10 or 20 hours of edits, with no new project for each change.

A monthly report

Each month a PDF comes by email with the updates, backups, security check, speed and hours used, so you can see the site is looked after.

Advice on SEO, analytics and UX

A site that runs but brings no inquiries is half the job. Each report includes our SEO, analytics and UX recommendations, and they cost none of your hours.

Accessibility checks

Visitors with disabilities need your site too, and clients now ask about the legal side. We check it; simple fixes like alt text and contrast use your hours.

Doing it yourself, your hosting, or a maintenance plan

Website hosting and maintenance are two different jobs, and doing the work yourself is a third option.

OptionWhat it coversWhat stays on you
Doing it yourselfUpdates and fixes when you find the timeYour hours, which cost more than a plan, and the risk of an update you can't undo
Managed WordPress hostingServers that update WordPress on their own and keep backupsFinding what an update broke and fixing the site
A maintenance planA person updates the site, checks each change on a copy, fixes what breaks and makes your editsSending the tasks

Most of our clients ran their sites themselves before they came to us. For some sites that is enough: a simple site with a few plugins that rarely changes, or a site that takes no inquiries or sales.

For every other site, one emergency costs more than several months of a plan. A hack or a site down after an update means a cleanup, a restore and hours offline, and each of those hours is lost inquiries and orders.

When your hosting holds the site back, we advise a better one, managed WordPress hosting included.

Website maintenance packages with monthly pricing

One question sets the price: how many hours of edits you need. Every managed plan includes the same services. Extra work costs from $20–30 an hour; each site after the first gets 10% off or more.

How fast we react when something breaks

Every request gets a level of urgency, and each level has its own start time:

  • Critical: the site is down, hacked, or payments don’t go through. Work starts within 1 hour in working hours and within 4 hours at night and on weekends.
  • Breakdown: a form or a feature doesn’t work. Work starts within 4 hours, during working hours.
  • Edit: a change to a text, an image or a setting. Work starts within 1 business day.

The times are the same in all three plans. They are start times, not finish times: cleaning up a hack takes longer than an hour, and we would rather say so up front.

Critical problems are covered around the clock, 7 days a week, on every plan. A site without a plan, down or hacked, gets an answer and an estimate within 1 business day.

“The most significant aspect of F5 Studio was their quick turnaround time and the provided resolutions were impressive.”

From the first request to a maintained site

01.

A free audit of your site

Tell us about your site and what worries you about it. We audit it free of charge from its address: the speed, the versions of WordPress and the plugins, the security headers.

With your access, we also check the backups and the pending updates. Within 1–2 business days you get what we found and the plan we recommend. The findings are yours to keep, whether you order or not.

02.

Access, sent safely

You choose a plan and send us the logins once, by a one-time link or through a password manager. From then on, your part is to send tasks. Work beyond your plan’s hours starts only after you approve it.

03.

Setup in 24–48 hours

Within 24–48 hours of getting your logins, we set the site up for maintenance: we check the login, connect the uptime monitoring, test a backup, install the pending updates through the staging copy and harden the security.
The setup is part of the plan: no fee and none of your hours. Then the weekly routine begins.

The team behind your site’s maintenance

F5 Studio was founded in 2013. Today we are a team of 20+ people: project leads, designers, developers, SEO and marketing specialists, QA engineers and AI automation specialists. Together we have completed 300+ projects for companies in 20+ industries.

Maintenance is how we stay with a site after we build it, and how we take over a site someone else built.
A site manager, WordPress developers and QA engineers look after each site. The work is recorded, so when your manager is away, a colleague takes over without losing the context.

WordPress support services for a one-off fix

We also sell paid WordPress support by the hour, with no subscription, from $20–30 an hour depending on the task and the specialist. You describe the problem, we reply within 1 business day and estimate the work first, and you decide.

Which one fits depends on the site. A plan fits a site that brings in inquiries or sales and changes often. One-off help fits a simple site with rare tasks.

A client came to us when their store stopped working after another team had migrated it to WooCommerce. We found the cause quickly and fixed it, with no plan in place.

“F5 Studio quickly and professionally fixed an unpleasant and unexpected problem I had with my domain redirect. Fast communication, quick reactions.”

A maintenance contract you can leave any month

Your site, your accounts and your data stay yours, so leaving is as simple as starting.

Month to month

A plan runs month to month, and you can cancel it at any time. There is no yearly term to sit out.

Your domain, hosting and admin

All three belong to you, on any host. If you want website hosting and maintenance services from one team, we run your hosting as part of the plan.

Your backups handed over

When you leave, we hand over the backups and any access we hold within 7 days, the latest full backup free. Then we delete our copies.

Our access closed

We close our access to the site, or you change the passwords, whichever you prefer. Either way, nobody on our side can get in after you go.

Why choose F5 Studio as your WordPress maintenance company

We maintain more than 10 sites for direct clients and more than 10 for agencies that resell our work under their own name. Our longest maintenance client has been with us for about 3 years.

We build WordPress sites ourselves

Our team builds WordPress sites and custom themes. When something breaks, we fix it in the code instead of waiting for the next update.

Your hours go to your changes

Fixing what breaks never comes out of your 5, 10 or 20 hours of edits. They go to the changes you want on the site.

One manager who knows your site

You deal with one dedicated manager, the same person every time, who knows your site and is there when something happens.

Questions about WordPress maintenance

Does every WordPress website need maintenance?

Not every one, and if yours doesn’t need a plan, we’ll tell you so directly. A simple site that rarely changes, or one that takes no inquiries or sales, can do without one. The free audit shows which case your site falls into.

What isn't included in WordPress maintenance?

Maintenance doesn’t include SEO growth, new leads, a redesign or custom development. It keeps your site in working order: SEO and marketing are separate services, and a redesign or a rebuild is a separate project.

The edits in a plan cover texts, images, banners, plugin settings and CSS. New pages built on your site’s existing templates count too. New templates, designs, forms and features, and copywriting, are estimated first and billed by the hour, from $20–30.

Maintenance also comes without an uptime guarantee: we watch the site and react within the times above, but we don’t promise a number of minutes offline a year.

Will you maintain a site you didn't build, or one that's already hacked?

Yes. We take on sites built by other teams, and lately sites built with AI or no-code tools that now need a developer. The free audit shows what we are taking on.

If your site is already hacked, we clean it up first, billed by the hour, and then put it on maintenance; you get the estimate within 1 business day. Years of neglect found by the audit are estimated the same way before the start.

If we built your site, it can move to a plan after the 30 days of free support that follow our launch.

What happens if I use up my plan's hours, or don't use them?

If the hours run out, we tell you, and further work goes by the hour, only after you approve it. Hours you give no tasks for expire at the end of the month; they don’t carry over.

Do you maintain WooCommerce stores and complex sites?

Yes: WooCommerce stores, multisite installations, membership sites, learning platforms (LMS), multilingual sites and sites with a custom theme and custom plugins. Any of them can be on any plan; a site with more edits uses more hours.

On a store, our WooCommerce maintenance service tests the orders and the forms after the updates. The right ecommerce maintenance plan depends on how often your store changes. Building a new store is a separate service: ecommerce website development.

Can agencies get white-label WordPress maintenance from you?

Yes. More than 10 sites we maintain are white-label: the agency sells the service under its own name, and we do the work. When your agency needs development work as well, it goes through our web development outsourcing.

Will maintenance keep my site visible in AI answers?

It keeps the base that AI tools and search engines rely on: a fast, secure, up-to-date site. Visibility itself grows with SEO work, which is a separate service. Each monthly report includes our SEO recommendations, so you know what to do next.

Run your business. We’ll keep the site.

Send us your site’s address and what worries you about it. Within 1–2 business days you get a free audit and our recommended plan, or a straight answer that you don’t need one.
